Dressing in 2025: What Movies Could Inspire the Red Carpet?

Dressing actors putt and take on the étiquettel of their films has practically become Hollywood’s dominant dressing style. It’s another exciting year ahead for us in terms of thematic sartorial splendor, as 2025’s long list of highly anticipated films is coming. Our list of upcoming films that could inspire some method-dressing magic is below.

Wicked Part 2

Erivo is in emerald greens like Elphaba, and Grande is in pastel pinks like Glinda. It’s almost a given that with the second installment of Wicked appearing on the horizon, they’ll continue to keep their looks coordinated. The real question is whether they will take a break between films or double down with two years of magical, Oz-themed style.

A Simple Favor 2

A Simple Favor isn’t really a film that screams method dressing, but Blake Lively’s play off of her promotion of the first in what looks to be a new series of sharp, character-inspired suits seems to reestablish her for a return to this fashion strategy. Emily’s penchant for power suiting, we’re betting on a parade of looks by luxury houses like Saint Laurent, possibly borrowed from their slick spring 2025 collection.

Snow White

There are fashion opportunities in this live-action reimagining of its leads. Snow White, played by Rachel Ziegler, can be called pastorally elegant with a dash of fairytale whimsy flowing silhouettes, embroidery, and a primary colour palette. Gal Gadot, playing the Evil Queen, has an equally clear lane witchy undertones and very dark, gothic glamour.

Frankenstein

Method dressing for Frankenstein, courtesy of Frankenstein stars Mia Goth, Jacob Elordi, and Oscar Isaac, is very much in play. With its gothic tale bent, this home practically begs 18th-century inspired fashion; Corsetry, brocade fabric, and high collars are in a call. It should have done this cast a masterclass the restraint and elegance of Nosferatu’s press tour taught us, if anything.

Ballerina

Ballerina, part of the John Wick universe, stars Ana de Armas as an assassin who, like many assassins, is a part ballerina. Method dressing is actually ripe for the juxtaposition of delicate and deadly. Armas walked the red carpet in ethereal tulle gowns from Molly Goddard or Simone Rocha, hardy with soft edges, an echo of the hard bordering on soft of her character.

Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy

Pick may feel out of left field, but we promise what follows is not. It’s a golden opportunity to embrace the Frazzled Englishwoman charm that Renée Zellweger has returned as Bridget Jones. Promotional looks seemed to be a mix of cozy knits, rain-soaked trench coats, and quirky accessories. It’s unconventional but method dressing in the form of a nostalgic and playful take on what fans would love.

What is Boding for Method Dressing?

No film press tour actually requires method dressing, but Hollywood is not letting this trend pass them by anytime soon. With bold homages, subtle nods, and even more subtle references, the red carpet is now a key part of the film experience, and actors can wear their character’s clothes.

Whoever will come in pastel Glinda gowns, gothic Frankenstein elegance, or assassin-chic ballerina vibes, we can’t wait to see how the stars bring their characters to life with the help of style.
