One of the biggest brands in the world today that never had any brick-and-mortar presence, Google has always thrived with no big bang as far as retail presence is concerned. Because of its products, Pixel phones and Nest smart home devices, and glowing online reviews, it does not need to fill its stores with many products.
Physical stores have the disadvantages of online shopping, but Google seems keen to broaden its retail footprint. The company has a seventh retail store in the States, and plans for a new store in Austin, Texas, have recently surfaced.
New Store Coming to Austin’s Domain Northside
The new store will be located in a thriving commercial and shopping area at Domain Northside, 11701 Domain Blvd, Austin, Texas. “Since this is no coincidence, it is placing Google around the corner from an Apple Store and the offices of tech giants Amazon, IBM and Cisco,” Fox Business wrote. It is an excellent area for guests to come and shop in for their tech-savvy shopping and professional purposes.
Google has not yet revealed any visuals of the Austin store or what will be the store’s interior plans. Still, its prior stores have shown a sleek, minimalist design featuring the company’s latest devices and services.
A Growing Network of Google Stores
The Austin location will join Google’s existing stores in:
- Chelsea and Williamsburg, New York
- Boston, Massachusetts
- Mountain View, California (near Google’s headquarters)
- Oakbrook, Illinois
A store in the works in Santa Monica, California, has yet to open. Shortly after opening its Oakbrook location in November 2023, as part of its overall retail growth, Google announced the Austin store less than a year later.
What to Expect at the Austin Store
Although Google has not officially disclosed the services the Austin store will offer, it is likely to mirror the features of its other locations, including:
- Device Repair: Services like Pixel and Chromebook screen replacements.
- Order Pickups: Convenient pickup for online orders.
- Troubleshooting Assistance: Support for Google devices and services included.
- Workshops and Classes: Educational sessions and hands-on experiences with Google products.
- Event Hosting: New device launches and community events.
These services aim to improve the customer experience by giving users a direct way to engage with the Google ecosystem.
Opening Date and Future Plans
Google has said neither Austin nor the Santa Monica opening date has been revealed, focusing first on its Santa Monica location, which was announced earlier. The Austin store will be a hub for hands-on tech experiences and will strengthen Google’s presence in one of the fastest-growing tech cities in the US.
A Strategic Expansion
Google’s decision to open a store in Austin is an acknowledgement of choosing to mash up physical retail with its online powerhouse. The company is choosing tech-centric, hyper-vibrant locations so that, when it arrives in the market with its products, it provides not products but immersive experiences.
